Crown Reduction on a Live Oak
A large oak overhanging a lakefront house needs its canopy reduced by a third. We climb and prune each branch back to a lateral, leaving a natural shape.
Point Venture's lakeside properties often have mature trees that need careful pruning to preserve views and protect structures. Our crew is experienced working in tight access areas near the water.
Point Venture sits on the north shore of Lake Travis, where the limestone bluffs and narrow lots are packed with live oaks, junipers, and elms. Many homes here were built in the 1970s and 80s, with roofs and decks tucked close to mature trees that have grown heavy over the decades. The clay soil holds moisture, and the wind off the lake can push a canopy hard during a storm. Properties are tight—driveways are short, utility lines run overhead, and every limb that overhangs a house or a view matters.
Our crew shows up with a chipper and a stump grinder on a trailer that fits the narrow lanes. We hand-carry gear down slopes when a truck can't reach the tree. We rig ropes to lower limbs away from decks and windows, and we rake and blow every chip before we leave. Because we work Lago Vista and Point Venture daily, we know which roads have low-hanging branches and which lots need a second truck for haul-off. We keep the job clean and the access clear.
David Espinoza Tree Service works across Lago Vista, TX & the surrounding Hill Country, so a crew is never far from Point Venture. Call (512) 412-1890 or request a free estimate and we’ll come out and take a look.
Mature live oaks and elms near the lake need regular thinning to reduce wind load and keep limbs off roofs. We prune for structure and view preservation.
Dead or storm-damaged trees on tight lots require careful rigging to avoid hitting houses, fences, and the steep slopes down to the water. We dismantle in sections.
Shallow limestone and clay make grinding stumps a common request after removals. We grind below grade so new grass or a patio can go in without a bump.
Lake windstorms can split a limb or topple a whole oak onto a dock or roof. We respond quickly to stabilize the tree and clear the hazard.

A hillside lot is choked with dead cedars that pose a fire risk. We cut them at the base, haul the trunks out by hand, and chip the brush on site.
After a tree is taken down close to the driveway, we grind the stump eight inches below grade. The area is then backfilled with soil and seeded.
Homes along this winding road sit close to the water with steep banks. Work here involves lowering limbs over the bluff and clearing debris without disturbing the shoreline or the neighbors' docks.
Trees along the fairways and near the clubhouse need regular trimming to keep play safe and views open. We work around tee times and keep the course clean.
The central area near the marina has older homes with overgrown canopies. Outlying acreage lots have cedars and brush that need clearing for fire safety and pasture maintenance.
If the tree is within the regulated buffer zone along the lake, you may need a permit from the Lower Colorado River Authority. Check with them before any work starts.
The POA may have rules about tree removal and trimming, especially for large or heritage trees. Contact the association office to confirm what is allowed on your lot.
