The work

About our tree trimming & pruning

When a homeowner calls about trimming, it's usually because branches are scraping the roof, blocking a view, or hanging low over the driveway. You've noticed dead limbs after a storm or the tree just looks lopsided. The goal is to remove what's risky or unsightly without harming the tree's structure or health.

Our crew starts by inspecting the tree from the ground, then climbs with handsaws, pole pruners, and a chainsaw. We make three-cut removals on heavy limbs to prevent bark tearing. Deadwood, crossing branches, and suckers are cut back to the collar. Ropes are used to lower pieces safely, and all cuts are made with sharp, clean tools.

The cost and time vary with tree size, number of trees, and how far the limbs are from the house or power lines. Accessibility matters—if the tree is in a tight backyard, it takes longer. Species and condition also play a role; a dense live oak with heavy interior growth requires more cuts than a spindly cedar. Weather can affect scheduling, but we work around it.

On the day, we lay down tarps and plywood to protect your lawn and driveway. We rope off work areas if needed. After cutting, we rake and blow debris, then haul away all branches and brush. You don't need to do anything before we arrive except clear vehicles and yard furniture. Afterward, just water the tree if it's dry.

Three-Cut Method

We use the three-cut technique on heavy limbs to prevent bark tear and splitting. The first cut undercuts the branch, the second removes the weight, and the third is the final clean cut.

Branch Collar Cuts

Each cut is made just outside the branch collar—the swollen ring where the limb meets the trunk. This preserves the tree's natural healing zone and prevents decay entry.

How the job runs

Our 4-step tree trimming & pruning process

01

Site Assessment

We walk the property, inspect each tree for deadwood, disease, and structural issues, and note nearby hazards like roofs or power lines. Then we give a clear estimate.

02

Safety Setup

Tarps and plywood are laid to protect turf and hardscapes. The crew dons harnesses, helmets, and eye protection. Ropes and rigging gear are positioned for controlled lowering.

03

Precision Cutting

Starting from the top down, we remove dead and crossing limbs using handsaws and chainsaws. Each cut is made at the branch collar. Ropes guide heavy pieces to the ground.

04

Cleanup & Haul

All branches, sticks, and debris are raked into piles, loaded into a chipper or truck, and hauled away. The yard is blown clean with a leaf blower, leaving no trace.

The difference

Why David Espinoza Tree Service for tree trimming & pruning

  • Tree Health First

We never top or over-prune. Every cut is made to the branch collar, which lets the tree seal itself naturally. This prevents rot and keeps your tree vigorous for years.

  • Clean Work Zone

Tarps and plywood protect your lawn and driveway from falling debris and sawdust. After the job, we rake, blow, and haul every stick away—no mess left behind.

  • Rigging for Tight Spots

When trees are near houses or fences, we use ropes and pulleys to lower limbs piece by piece. This avoids damage to your property and lets us work in confined areas.
